Organizations
Organizations let you share projects and resources with teammates. Role-based access control (RBAC) determines what each member can do.
Your account owns the organization. Invite teammates by email, then assign access with a role or custom permissions.
Members and the owner
- Owner — your account. The owner has full access and can invite, remove, and change member permissions. You can't restrict owner access.
- Members — teammates you invite. A member can only do what their permissions allow.
Roles
When you invite a member, you assign a role. Roles are presets over Forte's permission model:
| Role | Grants |
|---|---|
| Read only | View access to all resources. Can't create, change, or delete anything, and can't manage billing or teammates. |
| Admin | Create, read, update, and delete projects, services, websites, users, payments, support cases, and content. View teammates without changing them. |
| Owner | Full access to everything, including billing, compliance, and team management. |
Need finer control? Choose Custom and grant permissions individually.
Permissions
Every role is a set of permissions. A permission is an action on a resource type:
- Actions — Create, Read, Update, Delete.
- Resource types — Projects, Services, Websites, Users, Payments, Support cases, Compliance, and Team members.
You can grant each action independently for each resource type. For example, grant read-only project access and full user access. The console identifies any permission that blocks an action.
Managing your organization
Manage members and invitations from Organization Settings in the console:
- Invite a teammate — send an email invite with a role or custom permissions. They join when they sign up through the link.
- Manage members — change a member's permissions or remove them.
- Pending invites — review or revoke invitations that haven't been accepted yet.
